peripatetic daydreams

There will be unrealized dreams of Europe.

There will be views unseen,

Light shows and dancing evenings missed,

Though they once dazzled your sleeping mind.

Villas, porches, gondolas left unoccupied

Sweetness in summer air and

Twinkling patio dew-drop seascapes

Will fall away into nothing but mist-air, and dust.

Fickle, symphonic passions of the heart

May evade you; may evade you ten dozen times.

Let your funny faded orbs watch them drip away

And on the morning that you close the door,

Seize it all;

Add the rest to your garden of unturned stones.
